Chris Baik아래의 글은 선교첫날을 돌아보며 쓴 Peter Chung (정철조, 정미숙집사님 아들)의 첫날 간증입니다.
Even with a million things on mind, my heart was strangely at ease. Arriving at church at 9 am I see Paul preparing diligently on this praise songs. We were there with light hearts geting things ready and trying to figure out if we left anything that we needed. Soon, people started arriving and we finally meet Master Sang and Steve Jones.
With God's grace we run into no big obsticles as we pack and load our cars in a very brief time. Even when we arrived at the airport and checked in, there was no change in the state of our hearts. We were smiling and making jokes of the situation. We even get a great offer for us to leave for Haiti tomorrow, but we de regretfully decline. This was one of the first temptations, and I realized that the enemy is all over and we must guard our hearts at all times from now.
Our first big obsticle came to us right after we passed through security. Alas! Our main source of sustenance is no where to be found! This is when Pastor Chris realized that we totally forgot to bring the ramen noodles!Pastor Chris quickly made a few phone calls and called in favors to Simon Kim's wife who will be coing in tomorrow. God will provide, we all say. If not, we can always eat something else. We will survive. I was happy to see that nobody was disheartned, I mean after all, God will provide right?
We arrived at the Port au Prince airport and it wasn't as bad, crazy or hectic as I had imagined. It was very encouraging to see so many peple and groups in matching shirts, some of them were Christian. God works in mysterious ways, and I even through disasters, God makes his work happen. Whereever there are disasters or people in need, it seems Christians are willing to go. If Christians are there, they are sure to procalim the word of the Lord.
After we arrived at Missionary Simon Kim's house, we unloaded and for 30 minutes we took a short ride to a church with a field next to it. We were told that this is the place where we will be serving for the next few days. There was a crowd of 20 kids or so playing soccer, and it took a few minutes for us to get a little better acquainted with them. In a few minutes, Master Sang was able to gather up the children and teach them Tae Kwon Do. The children were very into it, and it was encouraging and amazing to see them so excited.There was one thing that saddened me though. I have heard of kids using condoms as today, but until I saw it with my own two eyes, it didn't bother me much. I hope that when we give out balloons in a few days, it will be able to replace those condoms.
God definitely provides because thankfully Missionary Simon had ramen and other foods for us today. It was such a blessing have such good food in our stomachs. After, we were able to enjoy a refreshing shower, and had an amazing time praising and speaking about the word of God. It was surely a great first day of missions. I am excited to see what God has in store for us tomorrow. Thank you Jesus.
제 머리속에는 수 많은 생각들로 가득하지만, 제 마음 만큼은 이상하리 만큼 평안합니다. 오전 9시...교회에 도착했을땐 하영이가 미리 도착해서 부지런히 선교에서 쓸 찬양집을 복사하고 있었습니다. 교회에서 가벼운 마음으로 준비하며 혹시나 잊고 가져가지 못하는것이 있는가 고민하며 준비했습니다. 잠시후 하나 둘씩 팀원들이 교회에 도착했고 강상현집사님과 함께 동행하는 스티브 존스씨 까지 모두 교회에 모였습니다. 하나님의 도우심으로 큰 어려움없이 짧은 시간에 짐을 싸고 짐을 교회 밴에 실어서 공항으로 떠날 수 있었습니다. 공항에서의 체크인도 아무런 어려움없이 끝나면서 큰 변화없는 마음으로 저희는 이번 선교를 시작했습니다. 웃으며...농담을 하면서 말입니다. 공항에서 체크인을 하면서 비행기 좌석보다 티켓을 더 많이 팔았다며 만약에 우리들이 내일 떠난다면 호텔과 한 사람앞에 $300불씩을 주겠다는 제의를 받고 망설임속에 거절하고 잠시나마 가졌던 말설임이 얼마나 부끄러웠는지.....어쩌면 시작된 영적전쟁속에서 우리의 마음을 지키고 추스릴 수 있었던 기회였습니다. 우리의 첫번째 어려움은 공항 체크 포인트를 지나고 일어났습니다. 아이구...우리의 양식이 아무리 찾아봐도 찾을 수 없었습니다. 그제서야 백목사님께서 준비한 라면을 잊고 온걸 알았습니다. 서둘러서 전화를 했고 내일 오시는 김선교사님 사모님편으로 라면을 다시 부탁드렸습니다. 하나님께서 준비하심을 기대하자고 모두 얘기했습니다. 뭐든지 먹을 수 있겠지....살아 올거야...라고 말하면서 낙심하지 않는 팀원들을 보면서 참 행복했습니다. 결국에는 어떠게 되건 하나님의 준비하심으로 사느거쟌아요....
포트 프린스 공항에 도착했습니다......생각보다 나쁘지도, 정신 없지도, 힘들지도 않았습니다. 같은 옷을 맞춰 입고 하이티를 향해 함께 온 사람들고 팀들을 보고 전 많은 격려를 받았습니다. 그 가운데 많은 사람들은 크리스챤들이였습니다. 하나님께서는 놀라운 방법으로 일하심니다. 하이티의 지진으로 많은 이들이 이젠 하이티를 찾고 그런 어려움을 당한 곳과 도움이 필요한 사람들에겐 크리스챤들이 달려가는것을 볼 수 있었습니다. 그리고 하나님의 사람들이 가는곳엔 복음이 분명히 선포됨을 볼 수 있습니다. 선교센터에 도착해서 짐을 풀고 30분 정도 차로 떨어진 공터가 있는 교회로 이동했습니다. 이곳이 앞으로 몇일동안 사역을 하게될 교회라고 이야기해 주었습니다. 20명 남짓의 아이들이 축구를 하고 있었고 쉽게 그 곳의 아이들과 친해 질 수 있었습니다. 강집사님께서 아이들에게 태권도를 가르치기 시작하셨고 순식간에 공터에는 40-50명정도의 아이들이 모여서 태권도를 배우기 시작했습니다. 아이들은 열심히 배우기 시작했고 그런 아이들을 보고있는것이 너무나 놀라웠고 감격스러웠습니다. 하나님께서는 분명히 채워주시고 준비해 주시는 하나님이십니다. 라면을 제대로 준비해 오지 못했는데....선교사님의 배려로 너무나 맛있는 식사를 하고 있으니 말입니다. 맛있는 음식이....시원한 샤워가....그리고 저녁에 함께 가졌던 놀라운 찬양과 말씀의 시간이 정말 감사했습니다. 분명히 너무나 훌륭한 선교의 첫날이였습니다.
하나님께서 내일은 어떤한 일들을 우리를 위해서 준비하셨는지 벌써 흥분됩니다......예수님 감사합니다!!!!
